Eason’s flagship store in O’Connell St, Dublin now has a large craft section on the first floor.
Called Craftworks, there is a good selection of yarn, patterns, sewing fabrics and a haberdashery. They also stock some materials for sugarcraft and paper craft enthusiasts.
Yarn wise, they stock a wide range of Rico, especially cotton. It’s the best Rico selection I’ve seen in Dublin. I also saw some Sirdar wool & other popular value / acrylic based lines similar to Hickey’s in Henry Street’s offering.
There’s also a nice table & seating area, where you can relax & look through the pattern binders etc.
I think Craftworks opened in late 2015, but I’ve found that not too many know about it yet. Indeed, I’ve sometimes been in there myself flicking through craft magazines & have forgotten to head upstairs to get my yarn fix!
So I thought I’d do a write up on it to try and spread the word. Next time you happen to be near O’Connell Street, it’s well worth dropping into Eason. After all, with lots of craft books in the basement, craft magazines on the ground floor and now craft supplies galore on the first floor, you may be there for quite some time!
